Urubamba

I have arrived to Urubamba. Many things have happened since I arrived.

When I arrived in Lima, I met a guy from my hometown. I did not know him before. We went out to resteraunt in Lima and then came back to the airport. On the way back, we saw a bunch of policemen and a dead body on the sidewalk. It was an interesting ¨welcome to Peru¨moment. We then made our way to Cusco and parted ways.

In Cusco I went through orientation, and then we went to Urubamba, where I am at now. I am with a good host family here and will be working with a track group early in the morning. The computer here is really crappy, so I will write more later, and hopefully post pics.

5 days...

Hello to all the faithful readers out there. Basically...my Mom and Dad.

I leave on friday to head to Peru for two months. I'll be working an internship which involves marketing for a tourism organization in Urubamba (seen above)...which to be honest, I have no clue what I am getting into. There may also be an opportunity to work with a track team...hopefully:). I'll be living with a Peruvian family while I'm there, so that could lead to many interesting situations. More information will come when I find out exactly the type of things I am doing. The website to the tourism group is: http://www.hakutrek.com/

Please pray that I'll be bold for Christ on this trip.
Pray that I'll be able to adapt quickly to the culture.
Pray that I'll be able to communicate clearly in the Spanish language.

For the runner people out there...I ran 27 miles this week. Just trying to stay in shape until the base training begins.

Not much here really...

I am still waiting for my exact placement in Peru. Hopefully I will recieve word on it this coming week. I am so excited to go and I really hope that I am able to help out with a track and field team during my time there. More information will be coming on this trip, once I get the information! I leave June 6...thats in 3 weeks. I'm pretty stoked about going as you all can imagine.

I ran a 20 mile week this week. 3 miles 5 days and a 5 miler on the "long day." Staying in shape after an ankle injusrt is hard work...but its well worth it. Sometimes I want to run longer or faster, but I have to continue to remind myself to take it slowly and that longer and faster runs are ahead, right now I need to stay/get into shape and get prepared for summer base mileage.

Wedding Pics

Here are some of the wedding pics from my brother's wedding. I need to figure out how to use this blog better so I can put on pics of Peru this summer. The pic on the right is of the flower girls and ring bearer.
The pic below is of my brother and his new bride cutting the cake:
More pictures of the wedding will be posted when I receive them and when I have more time to play around with the blogger.

Summer

The summer has started. I have not been posting as regular as I should, but with going to Peru this summer, I promise to post more. My brother Samuel just got married. I was the best man. It was a lot of work to pull this thing off. I'll be posting pictures soon!

Summer mileage will be starting soon. Right now I'm just trying to stay in shape after and ankle injury near the end of the track season. This will hopefully be my first full week running after a 3 week hiatus. I'm aiming for 20 miles.

More details on Peru and pictures of Sam's wedding coming soon!

Congratulations Obama...

In light of the first caucus last night....I would like to congratulate Barrack Obama on taking a major step on becoming our next president. I believe this man has caught a tide in January that he will be able to ride all they into November.

Psalms 51:10-12

"Create in me a a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain
me"
